Who We Are

Cell Therapies Pty Ltd (CTPL) is a commercial Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) located within the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. We specialise in the development and delivery of cell and gene therapies.

We are currently in an exciting growth phase, which sees us working with diverse range of clients from Australia and globally. Our work allows as to deliver the promise of advanced therapies and bring hope to patients in Australia and the region.

The Role

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) with a proven track record in the biopharmaceutical and/or cell and gene therapy industry. As COO, you will lead the manufacturing delivery teams – Supply Chain, Project Management, Validation and Manufacturing operations (which includes Production, Facilities and Laboratory support). Alongside our Chief Executive Officer, you will provide strategic leadership to the team and ensure operational goals are achieved. Specifically you will –

• Lead day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to best practices in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
• Develop and implement business strategies to drive efficiency and profitability
• Oversee planning, budgeting, and operational performance tracking
• Foster a high-performance culture that emphasises innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
• Develop strong relationships with clients, whilst working with our Business Development team to support client acquisition
• Ensure the scalability of production to meet increasing demand while maintaining exceptional quality
• Stay abreast of industry developments, trends, and innovations to maintain a competitive edge
• Be the nominee for production in all TGA / regulatory requirements

What You Will Bring to the Role

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as COO or in a similar operational capacity, responsible for manufacturing within the biopharmaceutical industry
• Proven experience in developing and building strong leadership groups across functions, leading to positive change and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration
• Ability to work in complex business with a broad array of  internal and external stakeholders, which will require excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong continuous improvement background
• Good commercial acumen: the ability to understand and manage finances with the ability to identify the key cost drivers
• A critical thinker who has strengths in both strategic and operational leadership
